DPP makes major announcements at IBC04

The Digital Production Partnership made four major announcements during IBC2014, which concludes this week. The DPP announced an update on the UK's successful adoption of file based delivery; news of the first products to have achieved DPP/AMWA certification; the publication of a new DPP guide '10 Things You Need To Know About Digital Storage'; and a roadmap for brand new work from the partnership for the year ahead.

In a session at IBC, three weeks ahead of the UK's move to file-based programme delivery on 1 October 2014, the DPP provided an update on the industry's readiness for full digital delivery. This included news from ITV and Channel 4, the BBC, Channel 5 and BT Spot, and BSkyB.

As part of its file delivery work, the DPP also announced that a number of products have successfully completed testing as part of the DPP's Compliance Programme, and have already achieved AMWA certification. The first companies whose products to have met the criteria are Telestream, Root 6 Technology, Cinegy and Dalet (AmberFin), with further companies' products expected to achieve certification in the weeks ahead.

The DPP launched its 12-Month Roadmap, featuring a number of new initiatives that aim to further support the industry as it moves fully to end-to-end digital file-based working. These include a common standard for UHD programme delivery, and a DPP report on connectivity for TV production.

We seek to be a rallying point for all who are committed to ensuring that end to end digital working in television is as elegant and cost effective as possible - and that it finally delivers some of the benefits that have been promised for many years.
