Imagine Communications Showcases Migration to IP at LLB Expo Sweden 05

(12/03/2015) Imagine Communications, a global leader in video Infrastructure, advertising management and workflow solutions serving the media networks, broadcast stations, on-line and communication service provider and enterprise markets, today announced it is focusing on the mission-critical transition to IP technologies for the broadcast and media industry at LLB Expo Sweden 2015. The company will exhibit with DiViTec AB, its local partner in Sweden, on stand number BO9-43, 17-19 March, in Stockholmsmassan. Presentations will focus on content lifecycle technologies, from creation to multi-screen delivery, emphasizing the challenges facing the industry as it transitions from traditional baseband infrastructures to software-defined networks.

The industry must move to new technologies, said Mathias Eckert, vice president, Europe, Middle East and Africa. The advantages are too clear to be ignored. Software-defined networks and IP connectivity make broadcasters and facilities more agile, scalable and cost-effective. The broadcasting industry simply cannot continue to demand bespoke hardware and interfaces.

A key solution supporting this transition strategy is the Imagine Communications Magellan SDN Orchestrator, a next-generation control system that allows traditional and IP-enabled workflows to be managed from the same interface. Magellan will be demonstrated at LLB Expo Sweden alongside a range of other end-to-end solutions.

In addition, Jochen Kuhnen, strategic solutions manager, EMEA, will present a paper on the transition from SDI technology to IP in a seamless and cost efficient way. As media companies embrace the technology evolution that will lead to the transformation of their facilities from baseband to IP, they face investment, operational and workflow challenges. The presentation highlights the value of software-defined networks as a concept for video infrastructure, how signals can be managed through the IP switch, and how the challenges of synchronous, deterministic and seamless switching can be addressed. The presentation takes place on Wednesday, 18 March, 13:45-14:45 and is entitled SDI or IP infrastructure .
