To assist commissioning editors in delivering their daily programming commitments. To drive the commissioning and business processes within the unit from evaluation, shortlisting & pitching through to contracting and final delivery, Evaluate proposals and preview programmes prior to transmission in accordance with channel vision, mission and image

Monitor programme's progress internally and on schedule and communicate changes

Ensures completion and accuracy of business plan and commissioning paper work as well as related administration including record keeping

Ensures completion and accurate administration of all contracts and agreements prior to broadcast

Monitor overall exposure received to sponsors and/or funders where required

Accompany CEs on studio and locations visits as well as meetings and viewings where required

Receive administrative paper work prior to and after broadcast and distribute to relevant parties

Facilitates reading and short-listing meetings , pitching sessions, reviews and any other required meetings and administration thereof

Assist in the review of slots/programmes and audits of schedules and draw up briefs

Assist with evaluation and negotiation of budgets

Assist with programming reviews

Ability to fulfil role of commissioning editor for short periods as required

REQUIREMENTS

Matric and relevant degree/diploma

Experience in developmental/educational content

Experience in television/broadcasting environment

Ability to do basic planning, monitoring and reporting as well as administrative work

Ability to identify potential success of an idea

Creativity, innovation and basic story telling principals

Good communication skills both written and verbal are essential

Committed to the achievement and maintenance of quality; sets high standards of performance for self and others

Make rational, realistic and sound decisions based on consideration of all the facts and alternatives available

Break problems into constituent parts and differentiates key elements from the irrelevant or trivial;

Make accurate use of logic, and draws sound inferences from information available

Produce detailed project plans in which objectives are clearly defined and action steps for achieving them are clearly specified

Drive projects along, get results, ensure that key objectives are met
