Nerd TV Announces Six Part Commiion from National Geographic Channels International and Channel 4

London, UK - March 5, 2015. Nerd TV today announces that it has been commissioned for a six-part series, fronted by comic odd couple Tim Shaw and Buddy Munro, by National Geographic Channels International (NGCI) and Channel 4. The series, titled True Tube (w/t) for NGCI, and provisionally named Idiot Proof (w/t) for Channel 4, has been co-produced with NGCI, Channel 4 and Red Arrow International. The daredevil stunt series will premiere in 2015 on the National Geographic Channel in 170 countries and in 45 languages, as part of its Entertain your Brain strand and in the UK on Channel 4.

The series sees Tim and Buddy track down the originators of the most jaw-dropping and enigmatic online videos clips from across the world to find out just how real they are, and how they were pulled off. Whatever their findings, the duo aim to recreate each stunt on an even larger scale, unpacking the science and engineering involved, trying not to die in the process.

From water skiing behind a container ship to playing tennis on an airplane wing during flight, the series unpacks vital scientific principles through the absurd antics of a global cast of amateur stuntmen. Part forensic clip show, part adrenalized travelogue, each episode combines the scientific detective work of Tim as he employs maverick engineering on location to create the stunt, and the spectacular feats of Buddy, who is his ever-trusting guinea pig.
