Defining Aframe Moments of 2014 ...

Relive the moments, feature updates and global events that defined the year.

January:

One area that dominated the New Year schedules for Aframe was Digital News Gathering - ahead of another summer of sport we released a whitepaper on how to solve the complex issues of fast-turnaround News & Sports production.

February:

The UK Panto season finished on a high with Maverick TV's Gok Does Panto. The All3Media outfit selected Aframe's cloud video production platform to help move digital dailies between Birmingham and London and provide a far more efficient post production workflow.

In the US, we celebrated the 20th Hollywood Post Alliance event by hosting two cloud focused discussions, including educating attendees on the transfer to file-based workflows.

March:

We proudly announced that Fox Sports 1 had embraced our cloud video platform as the centrepiece for a new self-service assignment desk workflow.

In recognition of the successful new workflow, FOX Networks Group also won a 2014 Visionary End User award at the Storage Visions conference for their implementation of Aframe.

North American operations grew when industry veteran David Frasco joined the side. Formerly at Avid, David has over 30 years of experience in editing, post production and building out solutions that have transformed content creation and production workflows.

April: This month is all about NAB.

We delivered a major new release of our cloud video platform, Aframe 3.0. Sony and Panasonic unveil new products that enable direct camera to cloud workflows enabling even greater efficiency in remote location shooting and breaking news.

Back in the UK, a major enterprise deal with Arrow Media was inked - more on that later.

May:

Norway's largest commercial television station TV2 kicked off the Sochi celebrations with another series of Sporty'. Sporty's editor, Steinar Marthinsen, said the additional time generated from using Aframe helped the team produce the best series yet .

We introduced a user interface redesign that switched to a vertical menu orientation to maximize your on-screen real estate. Once inside a project, the menu extends to include different spaces.

June:

The Aframe Desktop App introduced users to automated workflow processes for even more time savings in streamlined upload, collaboration and content distribution.

The Desktop App automatically uploads any video you place in a folder on your local machine with projects or collections to your Aframe project.

July:

The World Cup in Brazil may have been one of the best yet, but Broadcasters certainly didn't have it easy. The local telecoms infrastructure, the need for expedited media movement, on-site security and the usual challenges of collaborating efficiently with producers who are several thousand miles away all conspired to thwart the race to deliver dazzling content to air. Aframe was delighted to help World Cup broadcasters like Fox to immediately access, organize and collaborate on footage.

August:

The summer's drama continued courtesy of The Honourable Woman' and Maggie Gyllenhall entangled in a Middle Eastern mire of spying, secrets, subterfuge and silk blouses.

During pre-production, producers Drama Republic came to Aframe as the workflow involved distributing daily rough assemblies from footage shot in the UK and Morocco to a group of exec producers, directors and editors on location and in the production office see how Aframe confronted the challenge.

September:

Autumn brought the return of hit gangster series Peaky Blinders'. Tiger Aspect had previously used Aframe on the production of hit BBC show Ripper Street'. It was the success of this project that led Tiger Aspect to use Aframe again to automate the distribution of digital dailies.

Meanwhile cloud computing was again the big talking point at this year's IBC. For those in need of a new hardware fix, Sony obliged with the launch of the FS7, which the manufacturer said completes its line-up of 4K cameras. Unveiled at NAB in April, Panasonic's new Varicam range was shown to a European audience for the first time.

October:

Over the autumn we held a series of educational workshops in London. We enlisted the help of Timeline TV's Eben Clancy who has worked with Aframe on Channel 4's highest rating drama The Mill' and BAFTA winning zombie drama In The Flesh'.

Arrow Media's Ultimate Airport Dubai' returned for a second series on National Geographic. We met with Executive Producer Nick Metcalfe who revealed our innovative proxy first workflow had saved 20 weeks in the edit (2 weeks per episode) by accessing the footage more quickly so that editorial decisions could be made even before filming had been completed.

November:

CCW New York was the venue for the world exclusive of the Fall '14 release. We showcased our new drag-and-drop automated file upload capability, 5x performance boost and business performance analytics.

Other big November headlines included Timeline TV, who became the latest UK production house to secure an enterprise wide deal with Aframe.

To end a big month of productions, Sixteen19 announced they used Aframe to expedite digital dailies delivery on two forthcoming feature films from Scott Rudin Productions, Rosewater' and While We're Young'.

December:

Rolling into December Objective Productions continued the trend by releasing comedies Toast of London' and King of the Nerds'.
