New Netflix K-romcom series Boyfriend on Demand is set to add a little color to everyday life with a playful mix of fantasy dating and real-world chemistry.

Premiering March 6, the series follows Mi-rae (Jisoo), a webtoon producer worn out by her daily grind, who escapes into a subscription-based virtual dating simulation program that promises the dates of her dreams. Boyfriend on Demand is both the title of the series and the name of the in-story service, which offers custom-made, fantasy scenarios tailored to each user's ideal type. Set against the familiar backdrop of office life, the series uses the virtual boyfriend concept to explore the gap between perfect fantasy and imperfect reality in a way that feels relatable and fun.

As curiosity builds over which virtual dates will sweep Mi-rae off her feet, the new poster and main trailer offer a first look at the series' dreamy blend of everyday life and romantic fantasy. In the main trailer, Mi-rae steps out of her dull routine and into the service for the first time. Greeted by the dating manager (Yoo In-Na), she soon finds herself swept into one dreamy situation after another. From a fairytale-like prince encounter and a first love at school, to a confident doctor, a secret agent on a mission, and an A-list celebrity, Mi-rae cycles through a series of swoon-worthy dates that feel like they were pulled straight from fiction. One date after another, she's left in a dizzy, delighted haze.

Back in the real world, Mi-rae keeps running into Kyeong-nam (Seo In-guk), and the two gradually become overtime work buddies. The quiet spark between them builds alongside Mi-rae's virtual adventures, hinting at a more grounded, slow-burn romance that complicates her idea of the perfect match.

One of the most appealing points of Boyfriend on Demand is that the main character experiences different romantic relationships with various individuals, in diverse settings and universes, all within a single series. As such, viewers can enjoy a wide spectrum of romantic comedies, director Kim Jung-sik says.

Speaking about the virtual dating sequences, he shares, I focused most on portraying the many charms Jisoo has in the most versatile way possible. To do this, I used different occupations and added subtle variations to her character in the virtual world so that her acting style would feel distinct from Mi-rae in reality.

The series boasts a star-studded lineup of virtual boyfriends, with special appearances from Seo Kang-jun, Lee Soo-hyuk, Ong Seong-wu, Lee Jae-wook, Lee Hyun-wook, Jay Park, Kim Young-dae, and Lee Sang-yi - each bringing a different flavor of romance to Mi-rae's simulated love life. Adding to the charm are Ha Young and Yoo In-na, whose characters boost the series' playful energy.

Can perfect fantasy dating beat the imperfect realities of love in the real world? Boyfriend on Demand premieres on March 6, only on Netflix.
