From artificial intelligence and an autonomously AI-powered humanoid robot, to an immersive golf experience and our first proper look at Sphere, this is what's on the TVBEurope team's radar at NAB Show 2024

As excitement builds for this year's NAB Show, TVBEurope's team has put together a list of things we're looking forward to seeing and doing at the show.
Artificial intelligence At NAB 2023, AI was just beginning to enter conversations as media technology companies began to consider how they could use the technology to enhance their products. A year later, AI adoption is moving at full throttle. Vendors are embracing the technology, whether that be to enhance their software, or employing generative AI to answer user questions. We expect AI to dominate the conversation and will definitely be stopping by ENCO's stand (W1743) to see their AI-driven virtual anchor delivering live news from a realistic 3D virtual news set.
World's first AI-Human presentation Talking of AI, this year's Show kicks off with a keynote by an autonomously AI-powered humanoid robot. Ameca, as the robot is known, will be joined on stage by Futuri CEO Daniel Anstandig to discuss the findings of a survey into how audiences perceive AI in the media.
Sustainability Sustainability is (finally) gaining traction in the media tech industry. Vendors need to be working hand in hand with broadcasters and producers to reduce the industry's carbon footprint, and it should be a major topic of conversation at the show.
The conference programme For those who won't be spending all their time in the exhibition halls, there's plenty going on in the various conference programmes. NAB always attracts interesting speakers, and this year is no different. Expect to see Oscar-winner-turned-talk show host Jennifer Hudson, who's being inducted into the NAB Hall of Fame; Brooklyn 99 actor Terry Crews will be discussing the art of captivating audiences; and former British TV host, now actress and activist, Jameela Jamil will explains how authenticity fuels success in content creation.
Workshops One of the great things about NAB Show is that it lets you get your hands on cool tech. This year's workshops include a VR Production session, UAV Done Night Flight training, an editing workshop hosted by American Cinema Editors president, Kevin Tent, with editors from The Last of Us and Euphoria, and one looking at tomorrow's camera formats today.
The Unreal Ride Virtual production company MRMC is bringing The Unreal Ride to NAB 2024. Located in the Central Hall Lobby L2, it promises to deliver an immersive experience that integrates cutting-edge virtual production with advanced camera robotics. Attendees can star in their own dynamic movie, personalising their experience through a selection of different photo-real backgrounds powered by partner Vu's Vuone technology.
AWS generative AI golf experience Following 2023's football experience, AWS is inviting NAB Show attendees to step into the tee box of some of golf's most iconic holes with Full Swing, the Official Simulator Partner of The PGA TOUR. The experience, located at SU4109, helps golf fans perfect their swing, design their dream golf hole with AWS generative AI tools, and walk away with a customised golf poster. Should keep all the golf fans missing The Masters happy!
Apple Vision Pro On the subject of immersive experiences, how many companies will be talking about Apple's new hardware? Analyst Paolo Pescatore has dubbed NAB 2024 as Apple Vision Pro's coming out party . Expect to see vendors discussing compression and demonstrating the device's user experience,
TVBEurope's Best of Show Awards One of the highlights for the TVBEurope team (and in fact all of Future's participating brands) is when we get to give out our Best of Show at NAB 2024 Awards.
There's nothing quite like arriving at a winner's stand and seeing the look of joy that spreads across the winners' faces. It's also great to see the nominee and winners placards on display as we're dashing around to meetings. Look out for them while you're at the show on Sunday and Monday, and we'll be revealing all of the winners early next week.
The Sphere We know it's not NAB-related, but Sphere has officially opened its doors since we were all last in Las Vegas, and we're pretty sure there'll be plenty of NAB attendees hoping to see it in action. The big question is, how will the exosphere be celebrating the influx of media technologists?
