Election results 2019: Final countdown and controversy live updates

On 8 May 2019, South Africans headed to the polls in their numbers. Analysts have described it as the most pivotal elections since the country's dawn of democracy.

A record number of voters registered, but the youth under 30 was notably absent from that list.
