South Africa vs Zimbabwe: Overview The Proteas season kicks off on Sunday with a One Day International against Zimbabwe at the Diamond Oval in Kimberley.

The match is the first of three in the 50-over format, which is followed by as many T20 Internationals ahead of next month's tour to Australia.

In preparing for next year's World Cup in England, the selectors have named a 15-man squad that features some relatively new faces, with Warriors top-order batsman Cristiaan Jonker the only uncapped player in the 15-man party, while Dolphins skipper Khaya Zondo returns after missing out on the recent tour to Sri Lanka.

One man who will be looking to somewhat restart his international limited overs career is Dale Steyn, who makes also a return to the side after only featuring in the longest format for the best of an injury-ravaged two years.

The squad is, however, missing a few big players, most notably regular captain Faf du Plessis, who pulled out injured with JP Duminy set to take over the reins.

Hashim Amla is another man not available for the series, and his place in the side is taken by Dean Elgar who hasn't played an ODI in three years, while wicket-keeper batsman Quinton de Kock and the big-hitting David Miller have both been rested.
