Mondli Makhoba who plays Nkosana Zulu on the hit Showmax series The Wife told MacG on the Podcast and Chill that the famous sex scene with his onscreen wife Khanyi Mbau was a hard thing to execute.

He says it took them approximately four hours to prepare because they wanted to get it right and not repeat the take.

PREPARATION FOR THE WIFE; SEX SCENE The former Generations: The Legacy actor says it took a lot of mental preparation to carry out the scene.

It was a very hard thing to do. There was a lot of mental preparation because easy, it can be sexual harassment As much as we are working, but I need to know how the other person feels. I need to know how far I can go, what places I can go, what places I can't go, he told MacG.

Mondli says they needed to have that conversation with Khanyi to make sure she was comfortable.

We had to understand the whole choreography because it was choreographed in a dance form. I was leading this dance so I was counting every time because the director was like I want three positions, he said.

Mondli says he is happy he did that scene because as an actor you want a scene that will challenge you. Should you get it right, it will open doors for you and that's what that scene did for me.

HOW HIS PARTNER FELT The 43-year-old says his partner, who is a fan of the series, gave him permission to film the scene and to go all the way should need be.

She sent me a message saying go all the way. Don't hold back, go all the way and I think that helped me a lot cos you know when you're doing something and you're thinking, eish, I'm gonna be in trouble when I get home I didn't have that, I had a greenlight from home and I was able to do it, he explained.

Mondli says they [Khanyi and him] wanted to make the sex scene as different as possible from the other scenes that viewers have seen before.
