Media releases - 0 New Director s Attachment Scheme launched with Kriv Stenders Kill Me ree Times

The Australian Directors Guild (ADG) and Screen Australia today launched the Director's Attachment Scheme, a new industry incentive for emerging feature film directors to develop their craft. Funded by Screen Australia and managed by the ADG, the scheme will provide three director's attachments annually, beginning with director Kriv Stenders' new film Kill Me Three Times to be filmed in Western Australia.

This partnership with Screen Australia will enable us to identify potential feature film directors and provide them with the support they need to develop their craft as directors, said ADG Executive Director, Kingston Anderson. This is the beginning of a much larger scheme that the ADG will be developing for the future of Australian directors.

Screen Australia's Head of Development, Martha Coleman, said, We're proud of the amazing internship opportunities Screen Australia provides to our talented emerging producers, writers and directors and we're thrilled to partner with the ADG on the Director's Attachment Scheme, ensuring a professional development focus for this sector.

Participating films primarily shot in Western Australia, Queensland and South Australia will only be open to applicants from those states. Participating films shot in all other states and territories will be open to applicants from anywhere in Australia.

Applications may be submitted to the ADG from interested directors who have the following qualifications:

Two short fiction drama films publicly screened OR

One short fiction drama film which has screened at an accredited film festival (Sundance, Berlin, Venice, Cannes, Clermont-Ferrand, Busan, Rotterdam, SXSW or Telluride) OR

Experience directing television series drama or serial drama but must convince there is a commitment to directing feature film drama OR

Graduation from qualifying film schools (AFTRS, VCA, WA Screen Academy, QUT, Swinburne, Griffith University, Sydney Film School, Flinders University) having directed more than one short fiction drama film.

The applicant will be asked to submit the following to the ADG:

Resume

Written reference from an established screen industry practitioner

100 words or less on why they want to do the attachment outlining the career benefits

DVD copy of past work.

Applications are now open for the first attachment on the Kriv Stenders directed film Kill Me Three Times, filming in Western Australia. Only residents of Western Australia are eligible to apply for this attachment.

The deadline for applications is Friday 29 March 2013.
