OpenView HD approaches 1 000 000 decoder activations --

South Africa s free-to-view satellite TV provider, OpenView HD, is set to reach one million activated decoders within the next few weeks.
The OpenView HD platform has grown its market share by 143% since March 2016, making it the country s fastest-growing new TV platform.
To celebrate, OpenView HD will give away R5000 every day to new customers as part of its 1000 000 Celebration from 15 August until the million decoder milestone is reached. In addition the millionth customer will also stand in line to win a brand new car.
We are attracting over 1 500 new households every day, and we expect to surpass the one million mark by the middle of next month, says OpenView HD managing director Patrick Conroy.
Conroy believes South Africa s current economic crisis is making South Africans rethink the costs of entertainment, which makes OpenView HD an attractive prospect because of the once-off cost of the decoder and installation, and no monthly fee.
OpenView HD has reached a tipping point. Keeping the price of the decoders to R399 and below and improving our content offering significantly has grown our activations from less than four hundred thousand, just 18 months ago, to the point where we re about to cross the one million barrier, says Conroy.
OpenView HD has become a viable alternative for families seeking quality home entertainment that is free, he adds.
The improved entertainment mix has been at the heart of the platform s growth, with OpenView HD now offering two 24-hour movie channels, cartoons and additional, quality channels from sister company e.tv.
