Berklee's Signature Series Welcomes Grammy-Nominated Artist Becca Stevens The singer-songwriter will be accompanied by a select group of students in a performance that will celebrate her singular, genre-defying style.

Berklee's Signature Series will present the Becca Stevens Berklee Ensemble, a concert that will feature the two-time Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter leading two different quartets of student performers. The event takes place Wednesday, October 9, at 7:00 p.m. at the Red Room at Cafe 939.

Directed by Associate Professor Matthew Stevens, the slate of performances will highlight Stevens's works from across her catalog including selections from the album Becca Stevens | Attacca Quartet, which features a string quartet. Students have been rehearsing Stevenss chosen repertoire in preparation for the concert.

I'm so looking forward to coming to work on and perform my music with the students at Berklee and the jazz program, said Becca Stevens. A lot of my friends speak so highly of the program, and some of my closest collaborators come from it. I feel so fortunate to get to share my music with these new, young talented voices.

We're thrilled to be hosting Becca Stevens at Berklee this fall, said Matthew Stevens. Becca is like no one else, having created a personal and dynamic musical universe in which her songs and artistic voice remain immediately identifiable regardless of instrumentation or production.

About Becca StevensDrawing from classical and Appalachian folk music traditions and her penchant for the rhythms and harmonies of jazz, Stevens combines vocal mastery with virtuosic control of multiple stringed instruments to create unconventional songs that navigate an impressive range of sonic elements and intense emotions. Since 2006, she has toured internationally as the bandleader of the Becca Stevens Band, and has written and performed with the late David Crosby as an active member of his Lighthouse Band, as well as Jacob Collier, Michael League of Snarky Puppy, Brad Mehldau, Michael McDonald, Brian Blade, and Taylor Eigsti, to name a few.

Among her recent achievements, her collaborative record with Attacca Quartet was co-nominated for a 2023 Grammy Award for Best Arrangement, Instruments and Vocals, alongside her husband and quartet member Nathan Schram. This fall, Stevens will release her first solo acoustic work, which was recorded, engineered, and produced entirely from her home. The album navigates her experiences with loss and motherhood, as well as the impact this has had on her artistic and personal journey.

Tickets for the Becca Stevens Berklee Ensemble show are available online and at the Berklee box office and run $15 in advance and $18 day of show.
