RT receives 57 nominations for IFTA Television awards

RT received a massive 57 nominations for this year's IFTA television awards. The awards, sponsored by Gala Retail, take place at the Double Tree Hotel in Dublin on Friday, 7th October 2016.

Says Adrian Lynch, Channel Controller, RT One and RT 2: This is a fantastic result for television and I want to congratulate all the staff involved from Genre-Heads to producers and the production teams.

RT One lead the way with 38 nominations - they were across multiple genre and demonstrate the incredible choice that RT One offers, from wildlife documentary to hard-hitting investigations, drama to music, factual documentary to rural affairs. Craft-wise, RT 's position as a centre of excellence in the industry is clearly demonstrated, with nominations for sound, direction, camera, writing and acting.

RT 2 led the pack for comedy, sport and young peoples, securing 3 of the 4 nominations in the comedy category. Adrian continued: This is an exceptionally strong showing for RT 2 in a genre that we are passionate about for the channel. Meanwhile more good news for RT jr with Out and About and two of their animations The Day Henry Met and Lily s Driftwood Bay also receiving nominations in the Children s and Animation category.
