Robert Chambers Named VP of Community, Government, and Auxiliary Relations

Berklee has named Robert Chambers vice president of community, government, and auxiliary relations. Chambers brings an extensive background in government and educational administration to the role, where he will lead the cultivation of Berklee's institutional relationships, partnerships, and programs, as well as strengthen Berklee's standing in the local and national community. He assumed the role on September 1, 2020.

For over 25 years, Chambers has worked in various positions of strategic planning, government and community relations, student affairs administration, diversity and inclusion, crisis management, and business development. He served as legislative director for the Massachusetts State House Committee on Ways and Means, chief of staff for the president of Cambridge College, and dean of students for the School of Museum of Fine Arts. Chambers has also served on the Boston Arts Academy Board of Trustees, the executive board of the South Shore YMCA of Massachusetts, the Mission Hill Neighborhood Housing Services Board, and the Fenway Alliance Board of Trustees.

Robert's ability to focus on the strategic while understanding the details, and see and understand situations from multiple perspectives, combined with his knowledge of higher education have all contributed to his successful track record, said Richard Mac Hisey, Berklee's senior vice president of Administration and Finance, chief financial officer, and chief investment officer. Given his many talents and the many varied challenges and opportunities that Robert will face, I am eager to see the many things he will accomplish in his new role.

Since joining Berklee, Chambers has become an invaluable part of the Berklee community, helping to guide the development of Berklee's core values statement. He serves on the President's Cabinet and on the Administration and Finance leadership team, and leads the Media Relations office during a period of strong growth and visibility for Berklee. Chambers is also a member of the community advisory group to Public Safety, where he has developed new and innovative ways to broaden and strengthen the relationship between Public Safety and the Berklee community.
