We're heading into the new year with a new release of our pedestrian experience design software, Oasys MassMotion. With the new features and updates you can build and interact with models faster and more efficiently than ever before. This product update is just the beginning for many more exciting features to come.

MassMotion can be used to explore human movement for almost every type of project involving pedestrian experience and can be utilised to reduce risk in the design stage by allowing designers to test multiple operational scenarios. The software has been used for many complex transportation projects such as airport terminals, transport hubs and railway stations. It offers versatile capabilities that can help to determine people movement around commercial spaces like shopping malls. It can be used to model vestibule and concourse designs for arenas, stadiums and event centres to handle mass amounts of people, with the premise to enhance user experience. Evacuation scenarios can be tested multiple times and evaluated effectively to discover the most efficient evacuation routes.

MassMotion gives designers the confidence to progress with their projects, guiding them through whatever hurdles they may come across along the way. Here are just a few of the developments we've been working on to make it accessible to all and available to use on an increasing range of projects.

Script objects are now significantly easier to learn and use thanks to the autocomplete functionality you can quickly find a list of potential methods without needing to consult documentation. You can use the script object to automate the process of creating or updating multiple analysis queries for several simulation runs. This provides designers with more time to focus on crowd analysis and keep the user experience at the heart of the design process.

You can use tally objects to drive powerful operational changes in your simulations. We have added new features to the tallies and have reworked them to be more intuitive and flexible. You can use tallies to count the available capacity of a queue for a popular ride or attraction, for example. From this, you can then drive an operational change, instructing the agents to seek a food stall if the queue capacity has reached its maximum limit.

Your models will now run faster due to improvements we have made to the simulation threading system, and you can now simplify geometry faster alongside the ability to interact with 2D imports more effortlessly.

New to MassMotion, the section tool has been added to ensure you can display complex scenes more seamlessly. This saves valuable project time when working with intricate models such as commercial high-rise buildings and large stadiums.

SDK updates

Many new classes have been added to the MassMotion Software Development Kit (SDK) and almost all objects in a MassMotion project can now be accessed through the SDK.
