Imagine Communications Demonstrates Practical Evolution Towards Advanced Technologies at NATEXPO 2018 posted: 24/10/2018
Proven IP-ready solutions provide a secure, commercially viable transition path for Russian media businesses
At NATEXPO 2018 (31 October - 2 November), Imagine Communications experts will be on hand (Stand #A29) to demonstrate practical innovation and migration strategies that enable Russian media companies to make a self-paced, managed transition from traditional architectures to software-defined and IP infrastructures, without compromising existing investments.
Today, broadcast and media companies face many choices in terms of how best to migrate to an IP-connected environment, said Mathias Eckert, SVP & GM EMEA and APAC, Playout & Networking Solutions, at Imagine Communications. They are exploring whether to continue investing in dedicated appliances, move to virtualisation on premises, or look to the cloud, while also working to add compelling new content and delivery formats and continue delivering excellent services to their established audiences.
Eckert added, Imagine can support customers no matter where they are in the transition to next-generation technology. Having successfully delivered real-world solutions across the industry - including in Russia, with key broadcasters like CTC Media and NTV - we have unrivalled experience in addressing the complex issues of integrating hybrid environments, scaling IP networks, and tailoring software solutions to specific requirements. Visitors to Imagine's stand at NATEXPO will see system-scale deployments in key areas including playout, automation, channel branding and asset management. The company will demonstrate how these systems can be implemented on premises or in the cloud, and how media businesses can migrate without risk from traditional hardware and SDI to software-defined, microservices-based virtualisation and IP connectivity.
Highlights include Versio Platform, the industry's first cloud-native, microservices-based playout platform, which can host a range of services including high-availability, high-capacity storage, powerful graphics and multiformat delivery. Imagine will also showcase its award-winning Selenio Network Processor (SNP) - a next-gen, FPGA-based 1RU solution which functions as both an SDI-to-IP gateway and an all-IP-capable signal processing platform.
For evolving signal monitoring requirements, Imagine Communications will demonstrate its software-based EPIC MV multiviewer, which provides a single canvas for mixed signal types. Scalable to thousands of PIPS and hundreds of displays, EPIC MV offers a high-quality, low-TCO monitoring solution for today's hybrid environments and a seamless transition path to an IP future. The operationally flexible system will be shown combining HD, Ultra HD and IP inputs into a single, synchronised display. Versio Platform, SNP and EPIC MV are all powered by Zenium , Imagine's pure microservices-based software platform.
Imagine will also demonstrate how to achieve a successful transition from traditional to next-generation solutions at the pace which suits each individual installation. Central to this is Imagine's continued support and development for its widely adopted ADC and D-Series automation platforms. As media companies seek more flexibility in deployment platforms, move to standard commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) infrastructure, or consider datacenter-based or cloud-ready operations, Imagine offers multiple paths for seamlessly migrating ADC and D-Series customers to Versio Platform.
Recognising that system architects continue to demand access to best-of-breed solutions, Imagine solutions are open to standards-based products from any vendor. The company is a leader in the development of the SMPTE ST 2110 family of standards. Further, its Zenium microservices architecture is completely open, allowing third-party vendors and end users to add highly tailored functionality within the virtualised, software-defined environment.
Through deep commitment to the standardisation process, through pioneering developments in software-defined technologies, and through experience in many proof-of-concept' projects around the world, Imagine uniquely understands the real-world requirements of broadcasters today, Eckert concluded. We look forward to discussing practical projects in detail with broadcast and media companies in Russia at NATEXPO.
Imagine will also demonstrate how to achieve a successful transition from traditional to next-generation
