The topic on everyone s lips at this year s IBC Conference will be Virtual Reality (VR) - or should that be 360 video? Six sessions at the IBC Conference will unlock everything you need to know!
Never before has such a radical visual medium emerged so far in advance of common standards for capture, processing, transmission and display. It s not just the technology, media creatives are still wrestling with the potential for everyday genres such as documentary, drama and live sport. Psychologists are having a field day trying to understand its sensory implications and potential health risks. Even marketing people don t know how popular the headsets might be, remembering the glasses which contributed to the 3D boom-and-bust only a few years ago.
In order to bring conference delegates up to date with the fast-moving world of VR, IBC will present a special masterclass; an informative session which will demystify 360 media and will explain: terminology, psychology, technology, creative potential, pitfalls and the unknowns - all in an accessible way illustrated with examples.
The masterclass will be presented by Dr Nick Lodge of Lodgical Media and Sol Rogers, Founder and CEO of Rewind both well-known in the technology and practice of VR and other immersive media.
The masterclass will also highlight conference sessions, equipment demonstrations and features throughout IBC where VR technology can be seen and experienced first-hand.
