Interactive streaming specialist Ease Live supported more than 76.5 million fan sessions across three major European media operators during this summers FIFA World Cup , with more than half of viewers engaging with interactive features.

The company provided its interactive platform to broadcasters including France's M6 and Austrias ServusTV On, allowing millions of viewers to access live statistics, participate in polls and explore contextual content without leaving the live stream.

Across the three streaming deployments, 53% of viewers engaged with the interactive layer, while fans cast 9 million votes for Player of the Match.

Ease Live said the figures demonstrate the potential for broadcasters to use interactive features to increase fan engagement, gather first-party audience data and develop new commercial opportunities around live sport.

This summer has shown how far the live sports experience has evolved, said Kjetil Horneland, CEO, Ease Live. Our broadcaster customers were able to give fans the ability to actively engage with the tournament in real time, not just passively view the matches. With more than half of viewers choosing to use interactive features, it's clear that audiences want a more dynamic relationship with live sport. For broadcasters and rights holders, this creates powerful new opportunities to deepen engagement, build first-party data strategies and unlock new advertising inventory.

French streaming platform M6 recorded record audiences for live-streamed sport during the tournament, highlighting demand for premium football content on streaming services.

M6 attracted 11 million active users over the course of the tournament, who watched more than 100 million hours of content. The platform also added 4.2 million new accounts during the World Cup and became the number one free app across download platforms.

The deployment formed part of M6s wider streaming strategy, with Ease Live delivering graphical overlays to M6 in collaboration with Bedrock, the joint-venture media technology company co-owned by Groupe M6 and RTL Group.

Austrias ServusTV also used Ease Lives interactive platform during the 2026 FIFA World Cup, building on previous interactive sports deployments powered by the company, including coverage of the UEFA Champions League.

For its football tournament customers, Ease Live provided synchronised interactive overlays across existing OTT and streaming services. Features included live match statistics, player and team information, fan voting and sponsor-ready game moments.

The platform is designed to support both passive, or lean-back, viewing and more active lean-forward experiences. Broadcasters can also use the technology to collect engagement data and develop contextual advertising inventory.

Ease Lives cloud-based platform allows broadcasters and sports rights holders to create and publish interactive experiences across web, mobile and connected TV environments.

Because the overlays operate on top of existing video streams, broadcasters can introduce interactive functionality without rebuilding their core video workflows. Editorial teams can control live content, automate graphics using sports data feeds and monitor audience engagement in real time.
