Bright Technologies, Inc., developer of advanced technology for shared media environments, has announced Archiware, a leading developer of storage software, as a new technology solutions partner. The tie-up will enable both companies to enhance their digital post/DI solutions portfolios by sharing elements of their existing technologies.
With immediate effect, Bright Technologies is also able to announce the integration of Archiware's P5 range of backup and archive software, with its widely-installed BrightDrive Astella SAN in a box' solution. All purchases of BrightDrive Astella henceforth will have the option to feature Archiware backup and archiving functionality as an embedded feature set.
We are always looking to reach out to developers whose product lines complement our SAN solutions, said Shawn Clark, Director of Sales, Bright Technologies. Archiware has long been a leader in the field of data backup and archiving, and so we are delighted to be working closely with them as technology partners. By embedding their P5 technology with BrightDrive Astella, we are able to offer our customers an enhanced and simplified user experience when moving finished content between digital post/DI environments, and backup or archive systems.
The easiest way for the customer to have maximum protection of their production data is a pre-installed Backup and Archive software, said Marc Batschkus, Business Development Manager, Archiware. Bright Technologies products combined with Archiware software offer an excellent solution for the growing demand of high performance storage systems in media industries. Now choosing the desired license or combination is all that is needed.
Customers can now purchase a single dedicated server and SAN client license with a pre-configured option for a fully integrated SAN, backup and archiving functionality developed by two of the industry's leading software companies. All backup and archive formats are supported including disc, tape libraries or VTL. Feature sets are accessible from a single, mature web-based interface thereby ensuring users can navigate easily and quickly from any in-house or remote location.
BrightDrive Astella SAN in a box is part of Bright Technologies' BrightDrive family of SAN solutions that are used by some of the world's largest and busiest digital post and DI companies. Designed specifically for smaller companies or production islands, the Astella solution is supplied with embedded BrightDrive software, including Bright's patented BrightClip Advanced Recording Technology, metadata server, shared file system, data disks and direct Fibre Channel client connectivity - all in a compact 4U configuration.
Archiware's product range includes Archiware P5 Synchronize that enables users to replicate data with high availability without the need to restore. Modified files are detected automatically at specified intervals and synchronized to a target destination as required. P5 Backup let users backup server data to disk or tape, and backup and restore cross-platform. Archiware P5 Archive moves data offline to disk and tape for secure, long-term storage. P5 products are OS and hardware agnostic, easy to set up, and work cross platform on Mac, Linux, Windows and Solaris. In addition, all Archiware products are highly scalable and include remote browser access to files.
