This novel has everything you want from a thriller and more. It has the basics: a gripping plot, intriguing characters and lots of courtroom drama. This book, however, goes deeper than your average thriller. It tackles complex issues we have to face today like cancel culture and online hate.

Abdullah is truly a master at building tension and keeping the reader hooked throughout the novel. You will find yourself reading late into the night and telling yourself Just one more chapter .

Salma Khatun is extremely hopeful about Blenheim, the safe suburban development to which she, her husband and their son have just moved.

Her novels include Take It Back, which was chosen as The Guardian thriller of the year, and Truth Be Told, which was shortlisted for a Diverse Book Award. One of her other novels, Next of Kin, was longlisted for the CWA Gold Dagger Award and went on to win the Adult Fiction Diverse Book Award 2022.

Abdullah graduated university with a degree in computer science. She left behind the world of code when she began working for Penguin Publishing. From here, she built a following through her travel blogs. Through all these twists in her career, Abdullah never stopped writing.

These days she spends her time hiking, mentoring pupils from Tower Hamlets and writing (of course).
