Nielsen to Host Pre-GRAMMY Celebration Connecting Media, Brands and Entertainment

Party to Feature Live Performances by Bastille and Preservation Hall Jazz Band

New York, NY - Jan. 27, 2015 - Nielsen will host a pre-GRAMMY . Awards celebration on Saturday, Feb. 7, 2015, at Hyde Sunset Kitchen + Cocktails in Los Angeles. Building on the success of last year's inaugural pre-GRAMMY celebration, Nielsen will spotlight the distinct connection between media, brands and entertainment by bringing together guests from each of these industries.

U.K. band Bastille, nominated for Best New Artist at the 57th Annual GRAMMY Awards, will provide the evening's live entertainment. Formed in London in 2010, Bastille-named for lead singer Dan Smith's birthday-began as a solo project by Smith, who later decided to form a band. Their first studio album, Bad Blood, was released in March 2013 and debuted at the top of the U.K. Albums Chart. Bastille was named British Breakthrough Act at the 2014 Brit Awards and has sold over 1.1 million albums (including digital and streaming equivalents) in the U.S. to-date.

The evenings other entertainers are New Orleans Preservation Hall Jazz Band. The Preservation Hall Jazz Band derives its name from Preservation Hall, the venerable music venue located in the heart of New Orleans French Quarter, founded in 1961 by Allan and Sandra Jaffe. The band travels worldwide fulfilling their philosophy to nurture and perpetuate the art form of New Orleans Jazz. Many of the bands charter members performed with the pioneers who invented jazz in the early 20th century including Buddy Bolden, Jelly Roll Morton and Louis Armstrong. Now moving into their seventh decade, PHJB broke new ground in 2013 with Thats It!, a record that will go down in history as their first album of entirely original material, which was produced by band leader Ben Jaffe and My Morning Jacket lead singer Jim James.

DJ Michelle Pesce will provide the night's soundtrack. Pesce mixes the flavor of hip hop with rock, funk and pop while maintaining an old school vibe. From her weekly gig playing old-school hip hop at Los Angeles hotspot The Dime to rocking A-list crowds at events for the Academy Awards, Golden Globes, multiple film festivals and the GRAMMY Awards Official After-Party, she has become a staple in the Hollywood event scene.
