Turner Africa will be at DISCOP Africa 2015, taking place at the Sandton Convention Centre in Johannesburg, from 4 to 6 November. Turner Africa operates pay-TV channels dedicated to the African audience and broadcasted in 49 countries on the continent. With two of its brands being the first and second kids channels in Africa, Turner is a leader within the kids segment: it is the first kids multiplex in South Africa, reaching 11 million people every month.

The first of these two flagship channels is the universally appealing Cartoon Network: driven by its exciting slate of surprising comedy Cartoon Network is perceived as the 3rd coolest brand among kids, teens and young adults, according to the Generation Next 2015 survey. Ranked second, Boomerang, lines-up timeless and contemporary cartoons for the whole family. Its star programme Tom & Jerry is perceived as the coolest show by kids in SA. Turner recently scored its highest performance in two years with an 11.1% market share and sees a 24% increase in ratings compared to the previous year.

Amongst Turner Africa s other successful brands is CNN International, ranked as the number one international news brand in Africa CNN is committed to the African story with its five weekly African programming strands. CNN also supports its own journalistic enterprise through the annual CNN Multichoice African Journalist Awards.

Turner Broadcasting also owns some of some successful general entertainment channels in the US including: TNT, a mix of top market premieres and popular international series; truTV, which enthralls through original unscripted programming; and Adult Swim, which features comedy programmes like Robot Chicken and Rick & Morty.

Turner Broadcasting at DISCOP Africa 2015:

Boing

Boing is the new Turner kid s TV channel in Africa already distributed on pay-TV platforms in Nigeria, South Africa and the Seychelles, Boing is now available for all new pay-TV operators on the continent. Attending DISCOP in November 2015, Turner will be focusing on presenting the channel programming strategy to local African TV platforms.

The 2016 line-up includes new seasons of Angelo Rules and Dreamworks Dragons, as well as hit shows from the Cartoon Network studios such as Dexter and Courage the Cowardly Dog.

Hoolee

Turner Africa will be launching Hoolee, a pop-up children s channel for the continent. From 1 December until 31 January, premiums subscribers will have exclusive rights to this eight-week long family channel that will join the existing children s bouquet on DStv channel 197.

Built around a selection of exclusive acquisitions and of the very best shows from Turner and Warner Brothers productions, Hoolee will offer carefully chosen movies and animated shows which will include premieres of the latest in children and family entertainment.

TCM

TCM is a dedicated film channel available in the US, Africa, the UK, France, Spain, the Nordic region, and the Middle East. TCM Africa experienced a realigning in its positioning in April 2015, with a new look and updated programming slate, adapted to its audience.
