The 2023 winners for the Royalty Soapie Awards were announced on Saturday, 11 March on SABC1, comprising of actors, creatives and behind-the-scenes technical teams who bring magic to the small screens daily.

TVSA reports that 1Magic's The River walked away with a total of five wins, followed by e.tv's House of Zwide and Mzansi Magic's Gomora, with four each.

WHAT IS THE ROYALTY SOAPIE AWARDS? The Royalty Soapie Awards which celebrate the excellent work that production companies put in behind-the-scenes and on the screen, were founded by former Generations and current House of Zwide actress Winnie Ntshaba. This year's prestigious awards are special as they mark a momentous sixth-year milestone celebration.

Ntshaba, who is the founder and CEO of the awards told Sunday World: We are proud to celebrate the diverse calibre of nominations from across the country. The Royalty Soapie Awards aims to make the cast and crew feel that their work is noticed and it is valued. It shows approval and gratitude for each person's good job, and it makes people aware that good work will be rewarded.
