Following the release of her seventh studio album, Renaissance, Grammy-winning artist Beyonc has received backlash for using an uncleared sample. In an Instagram video posted on Friday 29 July, American singer, Kelis called out Beyonc for sampling her 1999 song, Get Along With You, without her permission.

Kelis also clarified that she was not jealous of the singer's new release and highlighted the difficulties of the music industry.

KELIS CALLS OUT BEYONC FOR UNCLEARED SAMPLE In her album Renaissance, officially released on 29 July, Beyonc sampled Kelis' Get Along With You for the fifth song on the album, Energy. In a heated response, Kelis addressed Beyonc 's use of the song without her permission. Get Along With You was produced by Pharell Williams and Chad Hugo.

The issue is that, not only are we female artists, black female artists in an industry There's not that many of us. We've met each other, we know each other, we have mutual friends it's not hard, she can contact right? said the 42-year-old singer.

She's one issue because it was stupid and disrespectful and she should've at least reached out.

Kelis continues to call out producer Pharrell who has credits on Renaissance.

Pharrell knows better. This is a direct hit at me. He does this stuff all the time. It's very petty.
