Back to the City, one of South Africa's oldest hip-hop festivals is set to return to Johannesburg on Saturday 1 October. This marks the festival's first edition since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic. A-Reece, Blxckie, YoungstaCPT and Bloemfontein-based hip-hop duo Stino Le Thwenny are all set to perform.

BACK TO THE CITY' HIP-HOP FESTIVAL Over the years, the Back to the City hip-hop festival has attracted more than 20 000 music lovers from across the country.

According to their website, the first-ever Back to the City festival was attended by 3 500 people. 14 years later, 25 000 filled Johannesburg's Mary Fitzgerald Square for a day filled with hip-hop hits.

Since its inception, some of Mzansi hip-hop's biggest names including AKA, Big Zulu, Cassper Nyovest, Gigi Lamayne, Rouge, Zakwe, Shane Eagle, Nadia Nakai and Tocuhline have all performed at Back to the City.

-- BACK TO THE CITY' RETURNS The Back to the City festival is set to return to Johannesburg's Mary Fitzgerald Square on 1 October with some of SA hip-hop's biggest names. This year, the festival will celebrate 15 years of SA hip-hop.

The likes of Maglera Doe Boy, Nadia Nakai, Costa Titch, MajorSteez, Tyson Sybateli, Flask Ikumkani and viral sensation Nomfundo Yekani will all be taking the stage.

DJ Ready D, Ms Cosmo, Slique, Nikki Newlands, Courtnae Paul and No Comply, made up of DJ Speedsta and DJ Milkshake, will be hitting the decks on the day.

EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW Tickets for Back to the City are available on Web Tickets from R300 to R600 each. The most expensive tickets for the hip-hop festival are VIP Presidential Tickets but there are also VIP Packages available.
