Berklee in Valencia announces a new masters degree program in music technology innovation, headed by program director Stephen Webber. The program is now accepting applications and will be launching in September 2013 at the college's campus in Valencia, Spain.

The masters degree in music technology innovation offers advanced studies to performers and composers who demonstrate excellent musical proficiency, technological acumen, and a desire to deepen their technology skills. This intensive one-year program explores new artistic directions using innovations in music and technology. Culminating projects may include compositions, recordings, and/or live performances featuring interactivity, visual components, student-designed instruments and systems, multichannel audio, musical applications for tablets and mobile devices, or innovations that push the boundaries of music and technology.

Students will complete their course work and define their culminating projects in collaboration with Berklee's world-renowned faculty, in the Valencia campus's new music technology complex, which includes two high-end labs and five recording studios designed by the Walters-Storyk Design Group.

Program director Stephen Webber is an Emmy-winning composer and prolific music producer who has recorded with DJ Premier, Nas,Meshell Ndegeocello, andMark O'Connor. His innovative teaching as professor in the Music Production and Engineering Department at Berklee has helped propel many of his former students to the top of the international music charts, and garner multiplatinum records and Grammy Awards.

Now more than ever, innovation is a key element to a successful career in music, Webber says. From composition to live performance and even education, musicians who are thriving are the ones who are inventing the future.

The music technology innovation program is the fourth masters degree offered at Berklee in Valencia, along with programs in contemporary performance; global entertainment and music business; and scoring for film, television, and video games.
