Enhanced developer experience across platforms, improved connection management and industry-leading support for reactive programming make it easier to build scalable, next-generation applications
BOULDER, Colo. and AUSTIN, Texas - April 25, 2016 - [OpenStack Austin, Booth #A38] SolidFire, the leader in all-flash storage systems built for the Next Generation Data Center, now part of NetApp (NASDAQ: NTAP), released its Python SDK to dramatically reduce the amount of additional time and coding required for integration and orchestration between SolidFire's platform and third-party applications. It allows developers to deeply integrate SolidFire's API with the Python programming language, one of the most popular languages for OpenStack users.
The Python SDK release is the latest addition to SolidFires robust list of published developer resources for Java, .NET and PowerShell, all of which make it easy for developers to accelerate the tasks required to provision, mount and manage scalable, high-performance application deployment on SolidFires storage platform. The Python SDK, which currently supports Python 2.7 and 3.3, reduces the amount of unique and template code needed to integrate with a SolidFire cluster. By minimizing the time investment dedicated to common coding tasks, developers are able to easily and efficiently accelerate the time to product release.
OpenStack clouds are in high demand to establish IT infrastructures and deploy block storage systems, and this SDK now provides the tools that developers need to simplify data center automation from the start, said SolidFires Field CTO Val Bercovici. Providing a robust set of SDKs that take advantage of the most advanced development models is critical to our ability to become the premier choice for developers building high-performance applications. The release represents the hard work not only from our engineers, but the open-source communities that actively contribute to making our SDKs best-in-class.
In addition to the benefits for OpenStack developers, the Python SDK will help existing VMware, System Center and PowerShell users who are looking to make the move to OpenStack. According to data from SolidFire's Storage Automation Usage and Trends Report, 51 percent of current VMware automation users indicated that they were considering making the change to OpenStack within one year, which would result in a significant uptick in the number of developers in need of resources like the Python SDK.
SolidFire will be exhibiting at booth A38 at the OpenStack Summit in Austin, Texas, April 25-29, 2016. The company will also host the following speaking sessions:
Expanding DBaaS Workloads with OpenStack Trove and Manila, hosted by Amrith Kumar (Tesora), Sean Cohen (Red Hat) and Chris Merz (SolidFire); Monday, April 25, 12:05 to 12:45 p.m.
How Stuff works: Cinder Replication and Live-Migration, hosted by Ed Balduf (SolidFire), John Griffith (SolidFire) and Rob Esker (NetApp); Monday, April 25, 4:40 to 5:20 p.m.
Cinder and Docker, like Peanut Butter and Chocolate, hosted by John Griffith (SolidFire); Tuesday, April 26, 11:15 to 11:55 a.m.
To persist, or not to persist (container data), that is the question, hosted by John Griffith (SolidFire), Shamail Tahir (IBM) and Kenneth Hui (Rackspace); Wednesday, April 27, 2:40 to 3:20 p.m.
For a full list of additional speaking sessions, visit our OpenStack Austin event page.
