Singer-songwriter Elton John teamed up with Britney Spears Hold Me Closer, which was officially released on Friday 26 August. The song mashes together John's classic Tiny Dancer, The One and Don't Go Breaking My Heart. In July, Spears and John's collaboration was named the song of the summer .Hold Me Closer marks Britney Spears' first original song release since 2016.

ELTON JOHN AND BRITNEY SPEARS ON HOLD ME CLOSER' Elton John's Tiny Dancer featured on his Madam Across the Water album, which marked John's fourth studio album. In 2021, the track scored the 47th spot on Rolling Stone's 500 Greatest Songs of All Time list.

As per Page Six, a source revealed that the two musicians had already played the song for people at their record label.

They are saying this is going to be the song of the summer, said the source.

The track, officially released on 26 August, is a synth-pop track. According to Pop Crave, the song has already reached number one on the United States iTunes.

ELTON JOHN PRAISES BRITNEY SPEARS In an interview with The Guardian, Elton John said Britney Spears nailed her performance on Hold Me Closer in less than two hours.

She sang fantastically. Everyone was saying they don't think she can sing anymore. But I said, she was brilliant when she started so I think she can. And she did it and I was so thrilled with what she did.

Praising some of Spears' previous releases, the 75-year-old said: She just put out incredibly brilliant records. She sang and danced so beautifully.
