New Playout for Eurochannel

PlayBox Technology has supplied and installed a third DVB playout system for Eurochannel television, an existing PlayBox Technology customer for the last three years, with two DVB systems already in place. The new installation provides a protected remote playout system for the Eurochannel clients in Europe and Africa.

Eurochannel is a world television channel, dedicated to promote the European culture and lifestyle, delivering the most exciting and entertaining European content such as movies, series, music, documentaries, fashion events, arts programs, etc. It covers Latin America, United States, Canada, the Caribbean, Angola, Mozambique, France, Poland, the Balkans, Portugal and Korea. The channel is now available to 15 million subscribers in 30 countries.

The first PlayBox deployment is completed in March of 2010 in Intelsats facility in Atlanta, GA. This includes separate servers for two channels, automated content transfer and full backup for both channels. All these are remotely operated from the Eurochannel HQ office in Miami, FL. The channels are equipped with multilingual audio streams and DVB subtitles in five languages, provided via PlayBox DVB Subtitle Server. The benefit of using DVB subtitles is that these are invisible' when delivered to the satellite uplink for distribution to North America and Latin America, but upon reception selectable subtitles languages are available.

In late 2011 the second installation for Eurochannel is done by PlayBox Technology - providing two IPTV channels for specific HD needs. It is very similar to the first one, with the only exception that the subtitles are embedded (open) in the video, via the SubTitleBox module of the PlayBox playout system. The second setup is also designed to be a fully independent and remotely controlled platform.

Now Eurochannel has chosen PlayBox Technology for a third time, for its main platform covering their clients in Europe and Africa. PlayBox Technology provides two DVB channels in a single 1RU server, one backup server for both of these and a DVB multiplexer. It also includes monitoring and remote connection equipment.
