SPA Director, Legal and Business Affairs Mark Donaldson Announces Departure

The Director of Legal and Business Affairs at Screen Producers Australia, Mark Donaldson, will depart the organisation on 9 February 2018.

Donaldson has been a critical part of the SPA industrial relations team, overseeing the modernisation of key industrial arrangements and providing advice to the membership on development and production matters.

Screen Producers Australia CEO Matthew Deaner thanked Mark for his contribution and said he looks forward to completing the search for Mark's successor.

During his time at SPA, Mark has given a massive commitment and contribution to SPA and to the screen industry. He has managed SPA's IR function through a period of significant change, he said.

In a statement, Donaldson said: This has been an incredibly difficult decision. I would like to thank Matt for his support over the last 4 years and for giving me the opportunity to grow into the role. I would also like to thank Owen Johnston for his sage advice and guidance during my tenure.

I look forward to sharing details of the next stage in my career soon.

SPA has achieved great things in the industrial space under Donaldson's management. When Mark started in the role, there was great pressure from all areas of the industry to achieve a new set of rights for television drama. This was achieved with immense contributions from the membership, the SPA Council and our friends at Media and Entertainment & Arts Alliance, Deaner said.

The industrial work at SPA will continue as the industry changes. We look forward to achieving more in this space in the near future with Mark's successor who will be responsible for management of current negotiations with the MEAA, the ADG and AWG, Deaner added.
