Globo nominated for the 06 International Emmy Awards in five categories

In addition to telenovelas, shows and series, Globo's cast members were also nominated for the Best Actress and Best Actor awards

Once again, the production teams of Globo make the list of the best in the world. Recognized by the International Academy of Television Arts & Science, attractions and cast of the network were nominated in five categories of the 2016 International Emmy Awards, the world's most prestigious television award. Two Globo pieces were nominated for the same category Best Telenovela'. Rules of the Game', by Jo o Emanuel Carneiro, and Hidden Truths', by Walcyr Carrasco. Alexandre Nero and Grazi Massafera were respectively nominated for the Best Actor' and Best Actress' awards for their performances in these plots. Globo is also running in the Best Comedy Series' category with the show Zorra', and in the Miniseries' with Os Experientes', a co-production with O2 Filmes aired in 2015.

Writen by Jo o Emanuel Carneiro and Amora Mautner as artistic director, Rules of the Game', aired last year and was nominated for Best Telenovela'. The plot focus on ethics and the fine line between right and wrong portrayed through a character named Romero R mulo (Alexandre Nero), a former member of the city council and part of a huge criminal racket, which works under the facade of an organization that helps reintegrate ex-convicts into society. For his performance in the telenovela, Nero was nominated for Best Actor' and is running against Dustin Hoffmann (for Roald Dahls Esio Trot , from the United Kingdom), as well as actors from Germany and the Philippines.

The same applies to Hidden Truths'. The work of Walcyr Carrasco, with artistic direction by Mauro Mendon a Filho, was also nominated for Best Telenovela', featuring a plot about the fashion underworld. Grazi Massafera, who played Larissa a model with a crack addiction problem , was nominated for Best Actress'. Grazi is also running against acclaimed actress Judi Dench (for Roald Dahls Esio Trot , from the United Kingdom), among other actresses from Germany and Singapore. In the Telenovela Category, Globo is running against productions from Canada and the Philippines.

In the Best Comedy Series' category, Globo was nominated with Zorra' and is running against productions from France, United Kingdom and South Africa. The revamped show premiered in May 2015, written by Marcius Melhem, Celso Taddei and Gabriela Amaral, and artistic direction by Maur cio Farias. Os Experientes', a co-production between Globo and O2 Filmes, is running against the United Kingdom, Germany and South Korea under the Best Miniseries' category. The four-episode series talks about growing old, but also about rediscovering and reinventing ourselves to enjoy the best years of our lives. The series is made up of four independent stories interconnected by the characters, featuring Fernando Meirelles and Quico Meirelles as general directors and Guel Arraes as genre director.

The International Academy of Television Arts & Science announced the finalists this Monday morning, Sep. 26. The winners will be announced during a gala ceremony to be held on Nov. 21, in New York, USA.

As the only Brazilian network to have won an International Emmy considered the small screen Oscar's worldwide , Globo has fourteen statuettes. Last year, Empire' won the Best Telenovela' award, and Sweet Mother' was the winner in the Best Comedy Series' category.

Globo received its first International Emmy in 1981, for A Arca de No . The next year, the network received another award for Life and Death Severina'. In 1983, Globo's founder Roberto Marinho was awarded with a statuette in the Direction' category. The first telenovela to win the Emmy was India - A Love Story,' by Gloria Perez, in 2009. In 2011, the network won the Best Telenovela' category once again, with Blood Ties' produced alongside SIC. That same year, Globo received the International Emmy award in the Journalism category for Jornal Nacional's coverage of the invasion of Complexo do Alem o. The following year, Globo won two statuettes for the productions The Illusionist' as Best Telenovela' and The Invisible Woman', as Best Comedy'. In 2013, in addition to Fernanda Montenegro being awarded Best Actress', the network won the Best Telenovela award with Side by Side. In 2014, it was Precious Pearl' who brought home the gold as Best Telenovela'.
