A Reddit user has asked Showmax app developers this question: How did they mess up so badly?

The Redditor claims their streaming experience isn't the same, and the user interface (UI) isn't as user-friendly as it should be.
According to the post, their streaming app has become more difficult to use after recent updates.

Redditor asks Showmax: How did they mess up so badly? A Reddit thread in /r/southafrica criticises the Showmax app for several flaws.
The user says they found the app amusingly bad to use. When their subscription expired, they didn't move their accounts to a new app and they're having second thoughts about downloading it again.
Showmax is popular amongst South African viewers, especially for its original shows like Spinners'.

They posted on Reddit: I was contemplating using it again and had a look at the reviews for the new app.
Reviewers claim that 2024 updates made the app harder to use and introduced more bugs than it fixed.

About Showmax Showmax is a popular online streaming service that was launched in 2015.
It's similar to Netflix, offering paid plans and access to hundreds of original and syndicated shows.
Tracking Thabo Bester' happened to go big, amassing thousands of views in its first few hours.
Viewers can use the app or view browser-based movies and shows.
The app is created to be user-friendly, but some users (including HelloPeter reviews) say that it's not there yet.
The New App The new app, launched in 2024, is meant as a better user experience for Showmax's users.
Unfortunately, users are calling the app buggy and claim that older versions might have worked better.

Many of its shows are entirely original, like To Catch a Killer: again, that's for the true crime fans and mystery lovers.
There are plenty of shows you can choose from, whether you like a good action movie or you're in the mood for comedy.
Other South African streaming services also exist, including Netflix, DSTV, and AfriForumTV.
