Kooperation in der FIA-Langstrecken-Weltmeisterschaft WEC
Schaeffler startet mit Rekordsieger Porsche in Le Mans
Eine Legende kehrt zur ck - und Schaeffler ist dabei. Erstmals seit dem 16. und bislang letzten Le-Mans-Sieg 1998 startet Porsche am 14./15. Juni in der Top-Kategorie des franz sischen Langstrecken-Klassikers. Porsche tritt in der FIA-Langstrecken-Weltmeisterschaft WEC mit ihrem Saisonh hepunkt Le Mans mit dem neu entwickelten LMP1-Sportwagen 919 Hybrid an.
Nicht nur wegen der R ckkehr von Porsche beginnt 2014 eine neue ra im Sportwagen-Sport. Erstmals tritt f r die global ausgetragene Rennserie ein Technisches Reglement in Kraft, das die nutzbare Energiemenge begrenzt, aber in den Bereichen Hybrid- und Antriebstechnologie gro e Freiheiten erlaubt - und damit die Teilnehmer vor neue Herausforderungen stellt. Die neue Generation der LMP1-Fahrzeuge ist komplexer als die Boliden der Formel 1. Anders als im Grand-Prix-Sport gibt es kein Hubraumlimit, und verschiedene Motorenkonzepte sowie Allradantrieb sind erlaubt. Die Langstrecken-WM (WEC) ist die perfekte M glichkeit f r Hersteller und Zulieferer, technische Kompetenz zu beweisen.
Beim neuen Reglement der FIA-Langstrecken-WM spielen die Themen Energieeffizienz und Zukunftstechnologie die entscheidende Rolle. Das sind auch die Themen, die Schaeffler in puncto Automobiltechnologie treiben. Die Parallelen zwischen Motorsport und Serie machen die WEC und die Kooperation mit Porsche f r Schaeffler zu einer idealen Plattform , sagt Prof. Peter Gutzmer. F r den Schaeffler-Entwicklungsvorstand hat dar ber hinaus die Zuverl ssigkeit eine gro e Bedeutung. Allein beim Saisonh hepunkt in Le Mans legen die Autos innerhalb eines Tages rund 5.000 Kilometer zur ck - was fast einer ganzen Formel-1-Saison entspricht. Das ist ein f r Rennsportfahrzeuge extrem hoher Anspruch und passt perfekt zu den Anspr chen, die Schaeffler f r seine Serientechnologien definiert. Dies alles macht die Langstrecken-Weltmeisterschaft f r uns und unseren Partner Porsche u erst interessant. Es ist ein perfekter Zeitpunkt, um sich zusammen dieser neuen Herausforderung zu stellen.
Porsche und Schaeffler arbeiten bereits seit vielen Jahrzehnten zusammen - sowohl im Motorsport als auch in der Serienproduktion. So verf gte mit dem Modell 356 bereits der erste in Serie produzierte Sportwagen der Schwaben ber innovative Nadellager von Schaeffler. Der legend re 917, mit dem Porsche 1970/71 die ersten beiden Gesamtsiege in Le Mans einfuhr, war f r Schaeffler ein Entwicklungstr ger f r hydraulische Ventiltriebskomponenten, die danach millionenfach in Serie gingen und den Grundstein f r das heutige Know-how und Portfolio des Weltkonzerns im Bereich Motorentechnologie darstellten.
Auch in anderen Serien und Fahrzeugklassen blickt Schaeffler auf eine erfolgreiche Motorsport-Historie zur ck: Bereits vier Mal haben von Schaeffler unterst tzte Fahrer die DTM gewonnen - zuletzt 2013 Audi-Pilot Mike Rockenfeller. Mit BMW hat das Unternehmen die Tourenwagen-Weltmeisterschaft gewonnen, mit Renault die Truck-Europameisterschaft, mit Mitsubishi und Jutta Kleinschmidt die Rallye Dakar. Mit Volkswagen stellte Schaeffler die Belastbarkeit seiner Produkte ebenfalls bei der Dakar und bei anderen W stenrallyes unter Beweis. Mit dem Rallye-Piloten Armin Schwarz hat Schaeffler zwei Deutsche und einen Europ ischen Rallye-Titel gewonnen. Mit dem Engagement in der WEC bringt Schaeffler seine bislang zumeist auf den Rennstrecken in Deutschland und Europa vertretenen Farben auch auf die Pisten in den f r das Unternehmen wichtigen M rkten, wie Nord- und S damerika sowie China und Japan.
