Grammy award-winning singer-songwriter Beyonc is gearing up to release her seventh studio album, Renaissance on Friday 29 July. This marks her first original release since Be Alive, a single that featured on the Oscar-nominated feature film, King Richard.

1. RENAISSANCE' IS MOSTLY DANCE AND POP Beyonc 's Break My Soul, which was officially released on 20 June, was a taste of what fans could expect to hear on Renaissance. Edward Enninful, the editor-in-chief of British Vogue, had the opportunity to listen to the full album and described it as music that makes you rise .

[Music] that turns your mind to cultures and subcultures, to our people past and present, music that will unite so many on the dance floor, music that touches your soul, Enninful explained.

2. WHO WORKED WITH BEYONC ON THE ALBUM? According to songwriting credits released on Apple Music, Beyonc roped in the best of the best for her upcoming album. Her husband and part-time collaborator, Jay-z, has credits on three songs while Nigerian songstress Tems also had a credit.

The-Dream, who worked with the 28-time Grammy-winner on her chart-topping single Run the World, scored a credit on Renaissance.

3. BEYONC 'S INSPIRATIONS A source told Metro that Beyonc will be honouring fashion muses from the 90s in her upcoming music videos for Renaissance. The source added that the 40-year-old loves the United Kingdom and credits them for much of her success.

She also wanted to honour artists like Brenda Fassie so there will be references to South African pop music all across the album, revealed the source.

4. SLEEPLESS NIGHTS Speaking to Entertainment Tonight, Beyonc 's mother Tina Knowles-Lawson, said she couldn't wait for fans to hear the upcoming album.

She put two years of love into this. Many, many nights [she spent] all night working. I can't wait for the world to hear it.

5. BEYONC CREATES A SAFE SPACE' WITH RENAISSANCE' Taking to Instagram on 30 June, Beyonc explained that creating Renaissance, allowed her a place to dream and find an escape.

It allowed me to feel free and adventurous in a time when little else was moving. My intention was to create a safe place, a place without judgement. A place to be free of perfectionism and overthinking.

A place to scream, release, feel freedom. It was a beautiful journey of exploration.
