The official trailer for The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power was released on Tuesday 23 August and it has since received rave reviews. The series, helmed by Amazon Prime, is set thousands of years before JRR Tolkien's famous books, The Hobbit and The Lord of The Rings. The first two episodes of the series are set to be released on Thursday 1 September.

THE LORD OF THE RINGS: THE RINGS OF POWER' As per the synopsis of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, the series will take viewers back to an era in which great powers were forged, kingdoms rose to glory and fell to ruin, unlikely heroes were tested, hope hung by the finest of threads and the greatest villain that ever flowers from Tolkein's pen threatened to cover all the world in darkness.

The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power is set to star Welsh actress Morfydd Clark, Benjamin Walker, Charles Edwards, Markella Kavenagh, Dylan Smith and many others.

The first teaser of the high-intensity drama premiered during the Super Bowl on 13 February and became the most-watched Super Bowl trailer in history.

THE LORD OF THE RINGS: THE RINGS OF POWER' According to a 2021 report by Theonering, The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power's budget was $465 million (approximately R7 billion). This does not match up with the budget for Game of Thrones.

The Game of Thrones budget was only $15 million (R225 million) per episode.
