TVBAwards TVBEverywhere: the finalists

New to this year's TVBAwards, the TVBEverywhere category pays homage to some of the cutting edge systems being used in programming and content provision across the industry. We've shortlisted the finalists, which include teams working on projects across VoD/catch-up and mobile TV provision, social media integration, and multiplatform production and delivery, and winners will be announced on the night next Thursday 22 October. Tickets are still available for the event, taking place at the spectacular Bloomsbury Ballroom in central London.

Multiplatform Production and Delivery is one of three awards which make up the TVBEverywhere category. EVS has been nominated for delivering the first-ever multisport multicam second-screen experience at the South East Asian Games. The app was created with EVS technology, which enabled the production and distribution of content from up to five sports at a time from the 20 events which took place each day of the two week long games. Harmonic has also been nominated for an OTT multiscreen delivery project for Kartina TV, while Elemental's Delta Video Delivery Platform and Unified Linear TV Delivery has landed it a double nomination. Babcock Media Services has been recognised for its Formula E Championship coverage.

Babcock Media Services have a second nomination in the category, for the Social Media Integration award, for the design, development and deployment of the software and hardware employed in an interactive TV channel for Sony. Also up for the award are Never.no for its NOTHS (not on the high street) social media campaign on ITV; Pixel Power/Channel 4 for their work on a Twitter-determined commercial break; and Croatian broadcaster HRT's use of social media to help humanitarian efforts during 2014 floods. During the catastrophic event, social media was used as one of the main sources of communication, rescuing people, as well as organising aid for the victims. HRT's work also proved a source of information for journalists, who used social networks for newsgathering.

The award for TV Anywhere solutions, including VoD/catch-up and mobile TV provision is the third in the TVBEverywhere category. Visual Unity's vuMedia VoD1000 product, nominated for the award, has been described as a revolution in video on-demand technology pricing and performance' and offers unlimited VoD, ample storage and delivery, and added features such as iOS and Android apps as standard. Piksel is up for the award for its Transavia Entertainment App, which harnesses the Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) trend and offers an in-flight entertainment experience at a reduced cost for airlines. Also nominated for the TVBEverywhere honour are the Vigour Video multiscreen solution; Muvi Studio cloud-based multiscreen OTT VoD platform builder; and Akamai and Aspera for their work with Sky Italia.

All winners will be announced next week at what is sure to be a great night. The TVBAwards 2015 will open with a drinks reception, offering guests a chance to catch up with colleagues and peers, followed by a dinner and awards ceremony, closing with an after party.
