The popular actor Hlomla Dandala, who's been playing the character of Lindiwe Dikana's husband Zweli Dikana in The River for five years revealed why he's bid farewell to the character.

HLOMLA DANDALA: IT WAS TIME' The former Isidingo actor Hlomla Dandala also revealed in an interview with Newzroom Afrika that he was happy with the character Zweli Dikana in The River for a long time.

It was time. Generally, what tends to happen with any career is that if you stay in any character for long enough, it's difficult to then pivot away from it or to be perceived in any way.
In The River, I was happy with the character for a long time and then after a while, we started growing further and further apart in terms of creativity, and then it reached a point where I said look, I need to manage my career'. And part of that is I don't want to get locked into a situation that I really don't want to be in long-term. It starts to damage your future.
Dandala added that he's happy the producers understood why he left the show.
The producers were generous enough in that they understood what I was saying. They were caught between a rock and a hard place, in that the structure of the show requires that one is duped (Zweli) and the other is duping (Lindiwe) eternally, for the structure of the show.

SIYABONGA THWALA JOINS THE RIVER' It appears Thwala will be replacing actor Hlomla Dandala who exited the telenovela as Lindiwe Dikana's husband Zweli Dikana in The River.

The actor Siyabonga Thwala is set to join The River as Bangizwe Zwane after the channel confirmed leading actors Hlomla Dandala who plays Lindiwe Dikana's husband, Lawrence Maleka who plays Zolani and Tango Ncetezo who plays Paulina will not be part of season six.
According to Drum Magazine, Thwala's character Bangizwe Zwane is a street-smart alpha male who runs a successful scrapyard which is a front for his illegal businesses.
He plans to win back the love of his life, Lindiwe Dikana, who was his childhood friend.
The publication adds that he's always loved Lindiwe but was too shy to express his feelings they spent a lot of time together, sharing dreams and future plans.
