South African comedian David Kau announced that he will be hosting yet another Blacks Only comedy show at the popular Montecasino stage on 7 October with several acts in the line-up. This will be the 19th time he takes the stage to host the show.

DAVID KAU'S BLACKS ONLY' COMEDY SHOW On Friday, 1 September, local comedian David Kau took to Instagram and revealed that he was set to perform another stand-up comedy act in Johannesburg in October. It's the 19th year of the Blacks Only comedy show, a voice-over from his post said.

This year, the coalition act includes MC David Kau, with the line-up as follows: Marc Lottering, Celeste Ntuli, Mojak Mohoko, Alan Committee, Tatz, Nkonzo, Mo Mothembe, Thapelo King-Flat Mametja, and more. Tickets are going for R250 to R700, and the show is expected to start at 20:00 p.m.

We know in every Blacks Only show we have themes. In March we did a State of Disaster when we were experiencing stage 5 and 6 load-shedding, there were potholes everywhere, [and] the rand was falling. In a way, we are still in the same state. The big thing now I guess is these political parties that are making this Moonshot Pact. That's why in the post I'm wearing every colour of each political party. It is obviously to take the mickey out of what the guys are doing, he was quoted as saying.

Last year, the show was held at Emperors Palace in Johannesburg after two years due to the Covid-19 pandemic restrictions, Mail & Guardian reported. Previously, Kau is said to have made history after he became the first black comedian to take part in the 1998 Smirnoff International Comedy Festival in Cape Town. He grew in popularity in the early 2000s after starring in The Pure Monate Show.
