The local music industry is gearing up for the 28th annual South African Music Awards (SAMAs) set to take place on Sunday 28 August at the Sun City Superbowl in Sun City, North West. Television and radio personality Zanele Potelwa has been selected as the official host of the SAMA red carpet.

WHO IS ZANELE POTELWA? Zanele Potelwa kicked off her entertainment career as a University of Pretoria student at Tuks radio. In 2020, Potelwa became a presenter on SABC 1's Selimathunzi and 5FM.

I went there for the mentorship programme and I knew that I had to come back once the five days were over, Potelwa said of the radio station as per Drum.

It's surreal that I'm on both 5FM and Selimathunzi shows that I adored growing up. I watched and listened to them with my siblings growing up and now they will be able to watch and listen to me, their very own sister.

Potelwa hosts the 5 Lunch show on weekdays between 12:00 and 15:00.

ZANELE POTELWA TO HOST SAMAS RED CARPET Zanele Potelwa is set to host the official SAMA red carpet on 28 August at the Sun City Superbowl. Potelwa will be welcoming some of Mzansi's A-listers as they enter the awards show.

I've been dreaming of being the SAMAs red carpet host ever since I was young and the fact that it's finally happening is beyond my wildest dreams. Happy doesn't begin to explain, said Potelwa.

The SAMAs is one of my favourite awards shows because it's Mzansi's BIGGEST night in music.

As a music fan, the multi-talented star says she says it is important to celebrate the local music industry.

I cannot wait to catch up with our music maestros on the red carpet.

SAMAS ANNOUNCE TWO MORE HOSTS Television presenter and musician Robot Boii and comedian Mpho Popps will be joining Nandi Madida and Lawrence Maleka as the hosts for the SAMA awards. Mpho Popps wowed Mzansi after hosting the Roast of Khanyi Mbau earlier this month.

Robot Boii is best known for hosting the Lockdown House Party and for his viral amapiano hit, Salary.
