BT helps customers take to the cloud by expanding Cloud Compute service to India
BT announced today the launch of its Cloud Compute service in India to help customers reap the benefits of cloud computing and meet regulatory demands.
BT Cloud Compute helps CIOs build powerful pay as you go' cloud solutions with high levels of quality, security and service delivered from BT. The service is available in 17 countries across four continents, including Hong Kong, China and Singapore in Asia.
It is currently used by companies spanning many industry sectors. For example, it allows life sciences companies to collaborate globally on crucial research and development projects and improve their speed to market. It is also used by leading international law firms to provide clients with fast access to legal and market know-how across Europe, the Middle East and Asia Pacific.
By extending Cloud Compute to India, BT will further improve the service for its local customers and help them comply with regulatory requirements by giving them control over where to host sensitive data.
BT research has shown that customers using BT Cloud Compute make an average saving of 40 per cent against traditional ways of working. By using BT's advanced Cloud orchestration of infrastructure, network, applications and services, customers can align costs directly to their business needs.

BT has been present with direct sales operations in Asia, the Middle East and Africa since the 1980s and today operates out of nine hubs, providing services to customers across 99 countries in the region. With more than 3,300 employees based in offices in Australia, China, Hong Kong, India, Korea, Japan, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, the Philippines, the United Arab Emirates, South Africa and Turkey, BT has repeatedly been recognised by leading independent analyst firms as a leading provider of networked IT services in Asia Pacific and the Middle East and Africa. Customers in the region include local operations of global multinational companies investing into the region as well as a growing number of emerging locally based multinationals expanding globally.

Security Operations Centres (SOC) in Australia and India provide advance security monitoring and services. In November 2013 BT launched a series of initiatives aimed at further accelerating growth in key markets across Asia, the Middle East and Africa. These include more than 400 new people focused on regional business growth, further investment into infrastructure, portfolio capabilities, new sector solutions, field services operations in eight countries and a new strategic service assurance centre in Malaysia. This new phase of investments builds on the success of earlier programmes announced in 2010 for the Asia Pacific region and in 2012 for Turkey, the Middle East and Africa.
