NIM Debuts As Studio Management Solution

LOS ANGELES - NIM Labs (http://nim-labs.com/) recently unveiled NIM, a browser-based studio management tool that tracks the production pipeline from start to finish. The secure environment serves as a central hub of any post production studio.

NIM was incubated within post house/VFX studio Ntropic and includes a feature set that addresses every stage of production, from asset management, shot tracking and creative review, to bidding, scheduling and job actualization. The tool evolved from a need for an end-to-end solution for managing the entire post production business, instead of relying on multiple programs focused on different individual aspects of production.

When we founded Ntropic, we were a small company without the infrastructure to support running our studio like a bigger shop, recalls Nate Robinson, NIM Labs co-founder and Ntropic founder/executive creative director. It was out of a desire to focus more on creative - rather than tedious management tasks - that NIM was created.

We knew NIM was robust enough to become a standalone product outside of Ntropic's multi-site production environment, adds Andrew Sinagra, NIM Labs co-founder and Ntropic creative director. We decided to rewrite NIM from the ground up to ensure it would scale to all types of production environments and facilitate the needs of any sized studio.

One of the first facilities to serve as a beta site was Zoic Studios. NIM brings a level of simplicity and elegance to the very complicated world of post-production pipelines, says Zoic's Saker Klippsten of Zoic Studios. It provides a complete solution out of the box and offers an extensive feature set that rivals the systems larger post houses have spent years integrating and refining.

The NIM platform focuses on four key areas: creation, collaboration, Integration and support. NIM works directly with The Foundry's NukeStudio, Nuke, and Hiero; Autodesk Maya; Maxon Cinema 4D; Adobe After Effects; and Thinkbox Software's Deadline render management system. NIM also provides a full-featured API to extend its reach into the inner workings of any studio.

NIM's pricing structure is built to accommodate both established studios and individual freelancers. Users can choose from a standard one-year licensing agreement for $25 per month per user or a flexible $30 per month per user short-term license. NIM also offers a $10 extended support option per month per user for each pricing structure, which includes expedited response times and direct access to support engineers.
