Major projects promotes development of Meishan Bonded Port Zone

In early February, the first International Internet Square in Zhejiang Province was established at Meishan Bonded Port Zone, with a total investment of 500 million yuan and co-built by the Chinese Academy of Sciences. About one month ago, the other major projects, including Ningbo International Circuit and the large coastal beach project, were started. All those projects have demonstrated the capacity of attracting major projects of the Meishan Bonded Port Zone.

Since 2015, the port has started the new campaign for development and opening up with its policy functions including the bonded port zone, industrial agglomeration zone and the marine technological city. In 2015, Meishan Port achieved rapid growth of all the major economic indexes, including a fixed asset investment of 20.18 billion yuan, up by 22.5% over the previous year; a total financial revenue of five billion yuan, up by 38%; a total import and export volume of US$1.4 billion, up by 20.6%; and a total container throughput of 2.2 million TEUs, up by 43.1%.

The featured trade platforms have developed and a "100-billion level international trade island" is taking shape. With the policy advantages of the bonded port, the zone has developed various trade platforms, including the largest imported meat trade platform (by the Bluesnow Food) in East China, the imported wood trade market with a storage area of 100,000 square meters, and the cross-border e-business industrial park with a planned construction area of 1000 mu (about 66.67 hectares), and achieved a total platform trade volume of over 85 billion yuan. Meanwhile, the whole vehicle import of the zone has gradually developed, and in 2015, 2263 imported cars were declared at the port, with a total import volume of about 800 million yuan, up by 30% over the previous year.

With the coming of the financial tycoons, the "100-billion finance management island" has taken shape. In June 2015, the Meishan Marine Finance Town was identified as one of the first 37 featured towns in Zhejiang Province, and the first phase of the project has started and it will be completed in June 2017.

Statistics show that in 2015 over 1500 financial enterprises were introduced to the zone, up by 200% over the previous year, and the newly added registered capital reached 150 billion yuan, up by over 30%. SBCVC, the prominent venture investor established the first government-guided industrial fund (with an investment scale of two billion yuan) at the International Marine Economic Technology City of the zone. Other financial institutions, including the Cindal Capital, Huinong Fund and Meishan Hedge Fund Institute, have planned to settle down at the Meishan financial town.

Reportedly, in 2016, the International Marine Economic Technology City will start to build 114 new projects, with a total investment of 50.3 billion yuan and a planned annual investment of 12.33 billion yuan. It will also introduce one major functional project with an investment of over five billion yuan and two projects with an investment of over one billion yuan each.
