Thank you so much. This is such a beautiful moment, on the road to sharing South African music and culture with the world. Thank you Nomcebo, thank you Zakes for your incredible creativity. Thanks to Tulsi Pillay my manager and friend who stood with me. Thanks to JB and all the musicians who worked on the album. Thanks to you all my peers who've supported us I'll never forget it, he said.

Zakes Bantwini added: I just want to say, we are coming from Africa, South Africa. And this moment right here to anybody who's in Africa just proves and affirms that every dream is valid. And I wanna say thank you very much to the academy and thank you very much to each and everyon. Every child in the ghetto, in the village, just know it's possible.

Concluding their speech, Nomcebo sang a portion of her biggest song to date, Jerusalema, before thanking her family and team.

THE DAY BEFORE THE BIG WIN According to Sunday Times, Zakes, Kellerman and Nomcebo were honoured on Saturday at an African nominees brunch at Spring Place in Beverly Hills, California.

The Osama hitmaker, who announced last year that he will be retiring as a recording artist, said that he has been hard at work in the studio and networking

Being in LA for the Grammys and being able to network and connect with other fellow African artists, music executives, and entrepreneurs is such an amazing thing, said Zakes.

I've been busy here with meetings with music executives, taking part in a Grammy Week panel discussion at the Grammy Museum, and later today I'm going to the studio to do some song programming and writing music - and of course getting ready for the big night.

Took me 17 years to find my path,

I have no words to express the emotions and grace that have come over me.

This moment is owed to my late Mother & Father.

I'm grateful
