Who would've thought a South African songwriter would make it big in the Country and Western music world!? Considering Mzansi's multifaceted musical background, we suppose anything is possible, right. Thankfully, any lack of awareness of the genre in South Africa hasn't stopped him from breaking through.

SOUTH AFRICAN SONGWRITER AIMS BIG Picture: Gareth James/Linkedin. He's written and sung Country music songs for 25 years. And, now, he's been nominated for an Annual Texas Sounds International Country Music Award, reports GoodThingsGuy. As you can imagine, this is the South African songwriter's shot at the big time, and he's also the only African nominee in the competition.

In fact, the South African songwriter has been nominated in three categories: Vocalist of the Year, Entertainer of the Year and Songwriter of the Year. Those are serious nominations and we should all get behind the talented vocalist.

Best of all, Gareth James will be travelling to the American State credited with being the heartland of Country and Western music in the world. Think Willie Nelson, Kenny Rogers, Don Williams, Tanya Tucker, the list goes on
