Online courses and Partner' initiative will help bridge the skills gap
IABM announced today that it is offering two online broadcast and media technology training courses to those who want to learn at their own pace and at the time and location that they choose, and has also launched a Partner' initiative to enable IABM members to partner with their customers by passing IABM training places on to those that they supply with equipment and services. Subsiding or giving award-winning complimentary training to end-users to enhance products and services offerings can bring benefits to all.
IABM has made this bold move in response to the latest IABM Industry Trends survey, which once again highlighted members' concerns over the scale of the skills-deficit in the broadcast and media technology industry. Of the 123 representative vendors who responded across the media supply chain, Development Capacity' and Skills and Staff Shortages' were the most important factors limiting companies' ability to fulfil orders or contracts, with the problem being significantly worse for small companies (Online training courses offer
The two online courses on offer are Understanding IP and File-based Architecture and Introduction to Broadcast Technology. Each course can be purchased for £49/$59/ 59 or both for £80/$90/ 90 per candidate. This offer is open to both members and non-members - vendors and end-users alike. E-learning course places are served directly to users' desktop or mobile devices while our Learning Management System handles security and tracks progress, Economies of scale and automation offers value for the whole industry, bringing these cost effective learn-at-your-own-pace courses to the widest audience.
Understanding IP and File-based Architecture provides a dynamic perspective on the latest technologies, systems and workflows that underpin the IP and file-based facility. The course explores storage and media management, the use of multiple platforms and analyses different production considerations and delivery requirements. It is designed to appeal to staff with every level of engineering knowledge - from sales & marketing and product managers to technical managers, chief engineers and station managers - as well as IT engineers who need to improve their understanding of media operations and workflows. It is also invaluable for those new to the industry such as apprentices and trainees.
Introduction to Broadcast Technology familiarizes candidates with the workings of the broadcast and media technology industry. It is ideal for anyone working in broadcast and media technology, post production, facilities and other related media businesses. It is suitable for all levels of staff and is structured to appeal to everyone working in any area of broadcast and media technology, from new starters and apprentices to those who need to keep up to date with changes in broadcast workflows and ecosystems.
Partner' IABM member training offer
The Partner' training offer operates on several levels. It allows member companies to package IABM award-winning training alongside their own products and services building trust, confidence and knowledge. Customers and end-users benefit from the learning opportunity and the value offered by purchasing course places at members' discounted rates or even by picking up complimentary places, one of the IABM benefits that IABM members are now able to pass on to their customers. This offer covers the entire range of IABM training courses, which can be seen here.
Over the last five years the IABM Training Academy has been delivering its award-winning training courses to bring members' staff up to date with the latest industry technologies, helping them to address skills shortages, said Andrew Jones, IABM Head of Training. The Partner' offer is a great way for members to deliver extra value to their customers, and the online training course offer is a high-return, easy-access means to keep everyone up to date with the latest developments across our industry. It's not just about new recruits; keeping existing staff up to date is also vital.
