The SVG Cloud Production Forum returned to New York City on Thursday with a packed agenda that brought together leading minds from across the sports media and entertainment landscape to explore the ever-evolving role of the cloud in live production, content distribution, and audience engagement.
The one-day event showcased insightful panels, case studies, and industry updates, with a strong focus on innovation, remote workflows, AI, and hybrid infrastructure strategies.

The SVG Cloud Production Forum underscored a powerful truth: the cloud is no longer a concept of the future - it's the foundation of the present and the launchpad for sports media's next evolution. Through AI, hybrid infrastructure, and virtualized workflows, sports organizations and broadcasters are embracing innovation at an unprecedented pace.

The Forum kicked off with welcoming remarks from title sponsor Amazon Web Services. Stuart Lepkowsky, AWS's Global Head of Telco, Media & Entertainment, Games, and Sports Partner Strategy set the stage for a day focused on cutting-edge developments in cloud-powered sports production.
From there, the discussions opened with a bang with a panel of production veterans discussing how cloud workflows are transforming the way fans experience sports today. The conversation featured Jason Hedgcock, Senior Director, Technical Production & Special Projects, Major League Baseball; Jim Miles, Senior Director, Live Event Workflows at NBC Sports & Olympics; Grant Nodine, SVP, Technology at the NHL; Jeff Norman, Director of Production Technology for Warner Bros. Discovery; and Bryan Samis, Specialist Solutions Architect for AWS. The talk was moderated by Claudia Souza, Chief Cloud Officer at Advanced Systems Group.
Remote production service providers discussed the role of their tech in cloud production in a talk starring (from left) SVG's Ken Kerschbaumer, Mobile TV Group's Phillip Blucas, LiveU's Janel Moorefield, Tata Communications Media's Jeremy Dujardin, Matrox Video's Francesco Scartozzi, and Game Creek Video's Jason Taubman.
Following a brief case study from Sony; conversations continued with key players from the remote production services space examining the shift from traditional production trucks to cloud-first strategies. This panel, moderated by SVG's Ken Kerschbaumer brought together Phillip Blucas, Director of Cloud Control for Mobile TV Group; Jeremy Dujardin, CTO, Global Media & Entertainment Services of Tata Communications Media; Janel Moorefield, VP of Direct Sales for LiveU; Francesco Scartozzi, VP, Sales & Business Development at Matrox Video; and Jason Taubman, SVP, Technology for Game Creek Video.
The first of two Cloud Spotlights starred Jane Day, Strategic Account Executive for Media and Entertainment at Google Cloud, who outlined the transformative impact of AI in sports production, highlighting innovations in multimodal content creation and fan personalization.

From there, the big debate between public, private, and hybrid cloud models was tackled by a panel starring Brent Angle, CTO at CineSys; Tom Carlisle, Senior Director, Cloud Innovation for Diversified; and Jonathan Smith, Solution Expert - Cloud for Net Insight.
Our second Cloud Spotlight brought Dana LaGattuta, Global Account Manager for Media, Entertainment, Sports & Gaming at AWS to the stage to give a strategic overview of how AWS is helping leading sports organizations harness data, AI, and cloud infrastructure to transform the fan experience.

The event than concluded with a pair of panel discussions. First, manufacturers explored the shift to virtualized components and the implications for the future of broadcast technology. That talk included Michael Cronk, VP of Strategy for TVU Networks; Mark Davis, Director of Sales, Americas for TAG Video Systems; Alex Keighley, SVP of Sales, North America at Grass Valley; James Piccirillo, Director, Network Systems at Game Creek Video; and Scott Rothenberg, SVP, Technology & Capital Planning for NEP Group.
The final session looked toward the future, exploring how cloud and generative AI are poised to revolutionize how sports content is created, personalized, and distributed. That conversation starred Roy Burns, Field CTO - Media Supply Chain at IMT; Owen Flanagan, Senior Media Asset Manager for Harris Blitzer Sports & Entertainment; Jake Lee, Sports Solutions Specialist at AWS; Yvette Schmitter, CEO of Fusion Collective; and Tim Stevens, Global Leader, Strategic Innovation, Sports, Media & Entertainment for Verizon Business Group.
The show closed with an eye to the future via a conversation with (from left) SVG's Ken Kerschbaumer, IMT's Roy Burns; Harris Blitzer Sports & Entertainment's Owen Flanagan, AWS's Jake Lee, Fusion Collective's Yvette Schmitter, and Verizon Business Group's Tim Stevens.
