Combination enables users to send and upload files up to 1000 times faster than FTP
Cambridge Imaging Systems announced today that it
has partnered with FileCatalyst to provide ultra-fast, secure and reliable delivery of files across
the internet for media publishing. The combination of FileCatalyst Direct point-to-point file
transfer solution and the Imagen media asset management and publishing system is ideal
for organisations such as news agencies wishing to quickly aggregate and publish video
content from reporters based in remote locations, and broadcasters with multiple departments
and satellite offices wishing to securely upload media to a central media asset management store.
The move to HD and tapeless production has caused media files to skyrocket in size, slowing
down file transfers considerably. Methods of file transfer like FTP and email are not able to keep
up with todays large media files, often leading to failed or never-ending transfers. Fast and
reliable transfer of files are crucial for delivering media to Imagens automated workflows - particularly
where content is being captured or created remotely.
The FileCatalyst fast file transfer protocol offers incredible speed gains of up to 1000 times
faster than FTP. Users simply drop their media files in the FileCatalyst HotFolder application
to upload files to Imagen. When the files arrive on the server, Imagen automatically ingests
the media, creating proxies and basic metadata records. Imagen can be configured to publish
the files online immediately or restrict access for internal use only.
Tom Blake, Managing Director, Cambridge Imaging Systems, said, Were pleased to partner with FileCatalyst to offer this combined solution to our customers, bringing together two
best-of-breed systems which will significantly cut the time it takes to transfer and upload large files.
Alan Atkinson, Vice President of Business Development at Unlimi-Tech Software, Inc, said,
"We are excited to partner with Cambridge Imaging Systems, a well known solutions provider
in the media and entertainment space. This partnership allows for media professionals to not
only manage their digital assets efficiently, but also to send and receive them at blazing
speeds with the FileCatalyst protocol.
