Over half of Ireland's adult population tune in to at least one of RT 's radio services every week. With an increase from the last Joint National Listenership Reach (JNLR) results to 1,917,000 listeners, the figures mean that 53% of the adult 15 population now listens to an RT radio station.
PPI Station of the Year 2015, RT Radio 1 continues to be the only station with a weekly reach of over 1 million (1,341,000), having seen strong growth both book-on-book and year-on-year ( 11,000 BoB/ 55,000 YoY).
RT 2fm has increased its weekly reach year-on-year by 44,000, now reaching 824,000 adults in the 15 age bracket.
Commenting on the latest figures Jim Jennings, Managing Director, RT Radio says: It's a good day for RT overall with almost 2 million people tuning in to our radio services. The figures are testament to the quality of RT 's output, the breadth of programming available, and the dedication of the staff and contributors here.
There have been some key schedule changes over the past 12 months and these figures show that we are delivering what our audiences expect from their public service broadcaster. RT provides quality public-service programming across news and current affairs, sport, entertainment, music, arts and culture, documentary and drama to this nation of voracious radio listeners.

Marian Finucane Leads Weekend Radio Listening
RT Radio 1 is Top Station for News & Current Affairs
Good News for Today with Sean O'Rourke and The Ray D'Arcy Show
Marian Finucane continues to be one of Ireland's most popular broadcasters with her listenership figures continuing to win at weekends. Her figures continuously outperform those of her competitors and this book is no different, with a rise of 23,000 on Saturdays and 1,000 on Sundays, to 396,000 and 338,000 listeners respectively.
PPI Station of the Year 2015, RT Radio 1, is Ireland's go-to station for news and current affairs. Morning Ireland, News at One and Drivetime all achieved strong growth in the latest JNLR figures. With Morning Ireland's figures rising to 439,000 listeners, it remains the country's number one radio programme. Added to Morning Ireland's gain, News at One's 11,000 book-on-book increase and Drivetime's 8,000 rise show that Ireland's radio listeners rely on RT Radio 1 to keep them abreast of the very latest news and current affairs at morning, afternoon and evening intervals.
At 328,000 listeners growing by 11,000 book-on-book and by a massive 33,000 since this time last year Today with Sean O'Rourke has cemented its place at the centre of Irish life, leaving its closest competitor, The Pat Kenny Show on Newstalk, behind with just 134,000 listeners; a decrease of 9,000 since this time last year.
In the afternoon, The Ray D'Arcy Show has grown the 3 4.30pm slot by 9,000 listeners book-on-book.
Tom McGuire, Head of RT Radio 1 says: All of us at RT Radio 1 want to warmly welcome the thousands of new listeners who have tuned in to Ireland's biggest radio station in the past year. All across the schedule, on weekdays and weekends, a loyal audience tune in for excellent news and current affairs, for an up-to-the-minute sports service, and a music and arts offering that entertains morning, noon and night. This terrific set of audience figures is a tribute to the dedication and professionalism of presenters, programme makers and support staff. A resurgent RT Radio 1 looks forward to your company for the forthcoming major events of 2016 and the surprise moments that are part of our station every day.
