The key: IP-based and media management integrated news systems

Modern newsrooms can achieve success thanks to new technological opportunities

The great possibilities created by the technological synergies of recent years have exponentially expanded the distributing capabilities of newsrooms around the world. On one hand, we find that the migration to tapeless work structures is now a reality in the majority of markets, while, on the other hand, the irruption of Internet and second screens makes information fly. To reach the audiences, then, on time and before competitors do, modern TV stations must centralize operations, optimizing its internal processes and getting the most from the accessibility chances that cloud technologies offer for news environments.

In a sector everyday more competitive and instantaneous, in which audiences have more options than ever and can access to a wide range of news in different platforms and from any place in the world, any TV or newsroom requires a robust and flexible solution that can perfectly integrate with the rest of critical systems in the core business of the company. That way, editors, journalists and news directors need total security at all times that technology will be on their side on the mission of being first to inform the public, empowering collaboration between departments and teams.

It is more necessary than ever, therefore, to develop and deploy solutions that must be perfectly integrated with media management tools such as a Production Asset Management (PAM) module, focused on enhancing collaboration during the edition and management phases of the projects, as well as with Media Asset Management (MAM) and Business Process Management (BPM) modules.

A solid and efficient integration with this tools allow audiovisual companies to make a more efficient use of their media resources, having immediate access to their assets from any place to offer quality information in the shortest time possible. All of that, with the widest range chances of orchestration possible, to let the solutions manage the inherent complexity of publishing content to multiple platforms and social media in different formats and situations, simplifying the technical work of journalists and the operation of those processes.

To summarize, the two main requirements that any news technology must fulfil are the transition to IP architecture workflow -that saves costs and simplify processes- and integration with media management systems, among which Media Asset Management (MAM) are the most important. That way, any company would be able to make an efficient use of audiovisual content to allow for a more active monetization, expanding the content's exploitation lifecycle in the business. Companies able to face both requirements and implement them with success will be the ones to lead the new scenario in which we are operating and to engage the new audiences.
